We Have Smiles!

Someone is starting to smile at us in response.  No pictures yet as we are always too excited and forget to get the camera.  We hope to have some photos soon.

Cole took part in his first parade today as part of a friends birthday.  He was a trooper and wasn't phased by the noise at all.  Later in the day when mom was out running errands the boys hit the town for a walk stopping at a number of stores including the local hardware store.  Things are a little crazy in town with everyone hitting the beach for the last big weekend.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Only has eyes for mom....

Someone only has eyes for his mom all night long...and dad is ok with that. Cole has been going through what we think is a growth spirt and has been very, very squirmy all night long.  The only way to calm him is the arms of his mother.  Overall, some long nights but we still love the guy.  He is starting to be more alert and aware during the day.  Play time on the floor is becoming more interactive as he loves to watch things and listen to music.  As we were starting to get a little tired of some of the songs on the toys, we broke out the CD from Uncle Jim of Radiohead songs done as lullabies.  Thank you Jim!

Below is a picture of Cole in the side swing.  It rocks him sideways rather than back and forth.  This was another life saver from a friend of ours that is letting us try it out.  So far he is digging it.

This is a beautiful piece of artwork that Uncle Brian and Aunt Lauren sent Cole for his birth.  Hangs outside the entrance to his room.

We hope everyone is doing well and have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Grammie and Papa have left the building.

Grammie and Papa made it to the airport safely and are on their way back to CT.  It was tough to see them go as everyone has enjoyed the time together.  I am not sure who it was tougher on though...Cole, Grammie or mom and dad!  Cole is getting use to not being held every second and it is an adjustment.  We have received many looks of "Where is that nice lady that holds me" throughout the day.  Mom and dad are adjusting to not having that nice lady to hold him whenever we needed her to and juggling naps, taking care of Cole and work.

We had a wonderful time and hope to see all of our visitors again soon!

In this corner....

In this corner weighing in at a whopping 9 pounds, 11 ounces and at a height of 22 inches - Cole.  Today he will continue to do battle with John and Mary.  Some of his signature moves:
- Fake cry at 4am until 5am
- Act like he is snuggling in to your shoulder and then pushing off with his strong arms and neck
- Grabbing and kicking...he is getting very strong

We had a weight check in today just to track his progress as we were worried early on he wasn't getting enough food.  That is no longer the case.  He is growing like a champ.  In five weeks he has put on 2.5 pounds and stretched 3 inches.  Wow!  We thought he was growing, but you just never know.

He also made his first trip to the beach yesterday with Mary and Grammie to test out his little cabana.  Loved it!  Fell fast asleep listening to the ocean.
Grammie and Papa are leaving in a few days and we are quite scared.  (So is Cole!)  He has enjoyed being held and soothed all day long.  He is in for a rude awakening on Monday as are we!

I'm One Month Old!

Celebrating one month of life today.  Everyone is surviving!  A few sleepless nights...many diaper changes...learning how to do ordinary daily activities.

Here are a couple of pictures from our trip with the grandparents to a local garden yesterday.

Hitting the town.

Team Cole headed out today to see the town.  Cole's first big trip around the city to see the sites.  We started out at Balboa Island and took the ferry over to the peninsula.

The sign we saw as we drove off the ferry.

Dad!  Dad!  Dad!  Do you see that.  I am hungry...do I get one of those???

One of the two frozen banana stands on the island.

That's pretty funny.  A big banana.

What?!  I don't get one...that's suspect...

Cole's first take-out lunch.

Mary and Cole

Mary continues to be a champ.  Thanks goodness she had all those years of training being an insomniac.  Paying off now.

Time to Play!

We are trying to work in some floor time when ever he is awake and we can get him out of the arms of all that love him.

Belly time!

Back time with his friends.  Listening to music.

Hey...who's that good looking guy?

Another person to hold me!

Aunt Heather arrived late at night to take over duties of holding Mr. Cole.  He is becoming a bit pampered at this point.  Needs velvet pillows for his head in order to sleep.  Quite demanding.

Grandma and Grandpa Have Arrived!

After a long day of travel, Grandma and Grandpa Hobson arrived to see their grandson.

Grammie and Papa Have Arrived!

Grammie and Papa arrived safely today and were very excited to meet Cole.  Cole put on his best clothes for Grammie and was anxiously awaiting her open arms.  Not sure if Papa has even had a chance to hold Cole yet, but I am sure he will at some point.

"Tugging On Grandma's Heart"

Grammie was very excited to hold Cole and hasn't let him down since.

Proud mama with her tired boy.  It is hard work being held all day.

My First Walk

We finally got up the courage to take Cole out for his first stroll around the block.  He wasn't quite sure about the whole process, but he seemed to have fun.  This first trip was just close to home.  This weekend we hope to make it to the ocean for the first time.

I'm 2 Weeks Old!

We have made it to two weeks!  Cole is doing great.  He just had his two week appointment and all things checked out great.  He is gaining weight, which we were worried about for a little bit.  But he is eating like a champ now and weighs 7 lbs 10 oz!  Also he has grown about an inch and a half.

Our first family photo!  We look pretty awake....more so than we actually are.

Little bit of a smile with mom.

Peaceful sleeper.  He loves to have his hands up by his head.
