Swing Time For Cole

Crawling Around With Aidan

Bowdoin Friends in NYC

The next few days were spent visiting friends of Mary's from Bowdoin. We went out to Long Island to stay with Lisa, Jimmy and Jillian (18 months) in there new home. The kids had a wonderful time playing. On Sunday we had a grill out with Rachel, Stephen and Amelia (3 months). On Monday we went to Brooklyn Heights to see Claudia, Michael and their twins Connor and Liam. All of the kids were fantastic and so much fun to see. It was nice to catch up with all of our friends.

Connor and Liam. AKA mini Claudia and mini Michael respectively.

The kids just hanging.

He isn't asleep. He just likes to hold his hat like this lately.

One of his favorite past times....swinging. We were at a park in Brooklyn and he loved watching all of the kids.

Trying to get some of the skyline in the background. Cole is pointing out all of the helicopters.

Jillian in background.

Amelia looking adorable.

Playground in Long Island. Jillian fell asleep on the way to the park and wasn't able to join us.

More swinging.

Tired out after a long day in Central Park.

Hanging in Central Park.

Meeting Cousin Michael

On Saturday afternoon we went to NYC for a whirlwind weekend of visiting friends. The first stop was at Mary's cousin Meg's to meet Michael. We went to the rooftop and played all afternoon. It was a lot of fun to finally meet Michael in person.

I like your hat. I like your hat too!

Look at that smile!

Doing what I do best...eating!

The Great Tomato Soup Incident of 2009

The short story. We found out Cole LOVES tomato soup. Tried him on it yesterday and he thought it was great. We also found out that tomato soup doesn't love Cole. And we have the carpet to prove it! The soup did not sit well with the poor kid and both he and Mary were casualties. Nothing like rushing to the hardware store to get a Rug Doctor to do a little afternoon clean up.

We are gearing up for our trip out East. Cole has quite the active social calendar as he has all sorts of new friends to meet. He can't wait to see all of his friends. Mom and Dad are more anxious about the actual travel as Cole doesn't really sit still right now. Wish us luck.

Happy Mother's Day

It was a very Happy Mother's Day in California. Mom was able to sleep in and then joined her boys for breakfast. We then had a nice leisurely day joining our friends for a late afternoon picnic by the ocean. Mom received a nice frame that holds a picture and an imprint of Cole's foot. She also received a book of photos from the past nine months. You can see it in the picture below.

Cheeky Monkey

Cole did not want to go down for a nap today.  It seems like he has decided to make full use of the time he has in the crib though - and taught himself how to take his pants off...  This does not bode well for the future - I think we better start investing in duct tape to keep his clothes on!

This and That

Happy Friday and Happy May Day!

Things have been busy around the Hobson house.  Cole has been fighting a cold for about a week and is just now starting to feel better.  He had the start of bronchitis and the doctor put him on medicine.  She was shocked when she realized he was nine months old before we had to put him on any medicine.  We have been very fortunate.

At Cole's 9 month appointment everything checked out well.  He added a whopping 6 pounds since his last check in and increased his head size considerably.  She was very happy with his development and his weight.

Cole is a crazy man right now though.  Never a dull moment when he is awake...which unfortunately has been a lot lately.  While fighting his cold he wasn't really excited about sleeping.  No naps and he wanted to be up most of the night.  Needless to say mom and dad were dragging a little and are just starting to catch up on sleep.

He has also decided that he can stand on his own spending most of his day wobbling while holding onto his play table or the coffee table.  Mom and dad spend most of their day with a had near Cole waiting for the fall and trying to protect his head.  There have been a couple of falls that were doozies.

Just recently he has begun "talking" a bit more.  I believe that his first words were "dada".  He has said this often and says it when he sees me.  Mary feels that is not correct.  We shall see what word ends up being officially his first word.

We just love Cole's personality.  He finds himself very funny.  And he is very curious.  Always checking things out and taking it in.  He uses his single finger to feel everything.  Also, we have noticed him recognizing things lately.  At story time the other day we looked at a large cut out of Clifford they have on the back wall.  Today when we went he got soooo excited when he saw Clifford.  It's just a really fun time.

Cole is a big fan of story time because he gets to see all of his neighborhood friends.  He is quite fond of some of the ladies.  He is especially fond of Molly who is a couple of months older.  It's pretty cute.  We have been trying to get him to wave, but he refuses to mimic us on anything.  We know he can do things, but he just chooses not to.  Today Molly waved goodbye and to our surprise Cole waved goodbye back.

That is about it.  Another exciting Friday night here where most likely we will be in bed and asleep before 10pm.  Oh what an exciting life we lead!  :)
