Rhode Island

We are on the East Coast for a two week trip that will take us to many destinations.  Our first stop was Rhode Island for an O'Loughlin Family Gathering.  Mary's parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and all of the kids and their families were able to make the trip back.  Everyone had a fantastic time.  The house was large enough to hold everyone. The kids had a blast and were all able to sleep in the attic area.  Cole was still a little too small for that, but he did enjoy playing with everyone up there.  Cole has been loving the time with his cousins and the kids have been great with him.  You would be amazed at how much his language skills have grown in this short time.  One of his favorite things to say is "Nic, where are you?"  Very cute.  He also does this for the other kids and mama.  He can't quite get Devin's name down so he refers to her as either "That Girl" or just "Girl".   It has been tough for him to take naps when he knows the kids are around, but he is exhausted.

More updates to come, but thought we would post a couple of quick pictures.

Happy Father's Day!!

Here are some photos from today - Cole was wearing his "V 2.0" t-shirt to match his Daddy's "V 1.0 (for those of you who don't get the joke - it's a technology term meaning Version 1 and Version 2).

It was a bit of a crazy day here - 1 dead car battery, 1 migraine headache and 1 boy who decided that he did not want to nap. Thankfully, we all survived - but may need to give Daddy a "take 2" on his Father's Day. ;)

Cole's First Project

Hello!  Things continue to be crazy around here.  Looks like this will be a busy summer for us.  The good news is Cole gets his cast off this week!!!  Everyone is excited.

Cole helped with his first building project this week.  Grandma and Grandpa were able to find some really cool wooded projects for kids and sent them to Cole.  We have been looking for some things that he could help put together as he is very interested in tools.  So our first project was a little wooden school house that has a roof that opens.  Cole got his little hammer out and put on his safety glasses to help dad with the project.  I think he really enjoyed working on it.  He lost a little focus when he saw the roof would open.  He promptly picked up the building and started playing with it constantly saying "Cool".  After a little coaxing and showing him a snail in the back yard he allowed me to finish the project.

The snail was a big hit.  We have tons of snails in the neighborhood but this is the first one that we found in our yard.  Cole tracked it through the yard.  When mom arrived home and asked him about the snail his response to was to put his finger to his lips and say "Shhhhh."  I guess this is what I was saying to him when we were looking at the snail so we wouldn't disturb it.

Mom and dad had their first real date night in a very, very long time this week.  We went to see Sting at the Hollywood Bowl in LA. Great concert and a great evening for both of us.  As you can see in the picture Mary had her hair straightened for the day.  Well, when she came home Cole looked at her and wasn't quite sure what to make of the straight hair.  His expression was priceless.  He knew it was mommy, but something was different.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Cole Running Around

As you can see, the cast really does not slow Cole down.  We are interested to see how fast he is once the cast is off...which happens this Thursday!!!  You can't even imagine how happy we will be to have the cast off.  Bath time has been the biggest challenge, but we are also growing weary of Cole using his cast as a club to hit his crib, his chair, his parents...etc...

Pretty quiet weekend around the Hobson house as we have all been recovering from slight colds.

But we are super excited for our friends Amy and Jim who made it home safely with their new son Alexander.  We have been watching their blog closely during the journey.

Also, very excited for Karen and Scott who welcomed a new baby boy into their house this weekend.  Their son Jake will be a great big brother.

Busy couple of weeks as we get ready to head out East to see all of the O'Loughlin family.   We are very excited to see everyone.

So Excited for the Wilson's!!!!!

We are so excited for our dear friends Amy and Jim.  They are currently on a plane to Korea to meet their son Alexander who they are adopting.  They leave today for the week long trip.  It has been a long road, but well worth the wait.  Safe travels to Amy and Jim and we can't wait to meet "Zander".  He is one lucky boy because he will have amazing parents.
