March 2011

Cole has been spending a lot of time at the beach with Grammie and Papa.  He can dig holes for hours and not loose steam.

One tired boy.  When he sleeps, he sleeps hard.  And does not like to be woken.  We have been trying to wake him from his nap so he doesn't sleep too late and then not sleep at night.  A bit of a struggle.  But when he does get a good nap he wakes up all refreshed and says "I had a really good nap!"  Very cute.

Pretending to still be asleep.

He loves jump ropes.

This is a mailbox near where Grammie and Papa are staying.  Whenever Cole goes down there they have to stop off to see the Giraffe.

During some recent storms a few trees fell.  This was a cargo van that took the brunt of a falling tree.

Snack time.

Some Photos from the past few weeks.

We have been having a great visit with Grammie and Papa.  Cole loves all of the time he gets to spend with them and is pulling out all of his best charming moves.  Mom and Dad have been busy with work and taking advantage of the extra support allowing for travel, movies and dinner at real restaurants where we don't have to eat as quickly as possible.  So everyone is having fun.  Mary and I are currently in Nashville for a few days.  Mary has work and I am tagging along to see the city.  But we do miss Cole greatly. Below are a number of photos from the past few weeks.

Cole at the shopping mall waiting for his friend Sofia.  He and Sofia a great friends.  This past Friday we were driving over to her house for a play date and he says to me, "Dad, faster to Fi's.  Go faster."

This is Mike and Sue's daughter Brianna who just turned 4.  Really hard to believe she is growing up so quickly.  We went to her birthday party in Temecula where Cole had a blast and even ventured into the jump house for the first time.

Cole showing Grammie his cool sunglasses.  They are pointy cat woman like glasses that Mary picked up at work.  He thinks they are really fun.

At Brianna's party.  He found her jeep and would not leave.  He loves any type of car.

Cole showing Sam how the car works.  Sam is Karin and Scott's youngest son.

We recently went to Disney and were able to try a number of new rides.  Cole was very excited to drive the bumper cars.  He wanted to ride this over and over.  I do think if given the chance he would take off in a car by himself.

At Disney.

In Goofy's house at Disney.

The big chair.

Another photo of driving.

Hanging with Mickey.

We pulled our table out so we could sit on the other side.  Cole thinks this is fantastic and he climbs on the chairs and loves to look out the window.

Cole's friend Sofia.

Achoo

Funny recent story of Cole being his normal cute self.

Grammie was upstairs talking to Cole and said to him: "Cole you are just so sweet.  God bless you."

Cole responded with: "Achoo"

Whenever he sneezes Mary says God Bless You, so he must have thought Grammie wanted him to sneeze!

Bunch of updates

Where does the time go?  I can't believe it is already Valentine's Day!  Wow.  I will try to do a quick update to bring everyone up to speed since our last post.

In late January we had a round of sickness.  Both John and Cole were sick.  Just colds, but they seemed to hang on forever.  Cole had a runny nose for awhile so we finally took him to the doctor just to get it checked out and sure enough he had a double ear infection and it was starting to move into his lungs.  Now you wouldn't have known he was sick other than his nose was running.  The kid has a crazy pain tolerance.  Luckily we caught the ear thing early, but for some reason none of the antibiotics worked.  We went through three sets before we found something that worked.  He still has a bit of fluid in his ear so we are going to the ENT doctor this week.  Hopefully he doesn't have his dads ears.

After finally getting better we welcomed Aunt Heather for a visit.  She was in town to run the Surf City Half Marathon for the third year in a row.  Amazing what people will do for a special t-shirt and medal.  We had a great visit.  We even went to Disneyland one of the days.  Everyone had a blast.  Well, at least we think they did.  Some of the photos would tell you a different story, but it could have been that brother John didn't warn his big sis about some of the rides.  I won't share the photos, but there are some classics!

After Heather left we had a very busy week with work.  Mom had her national sales meeting in town, so she was tied up all day and all night for the full week.  The boys survived though.

School continues to go well.  Cole really enjoys his class and his friends.  It is actually really hard to get him to leave school.  But I must say one of the best feelings is walking in the room to pick him up and to have him run up to me, give me a big hug and say "Dad, I really, really missed you.  I am so happy to see you."  Makes my day each time.

On a sad note, Cole is starting to drop his afternoon nap.  It is very, very sad for dad and for his nanny Brittany.  That little bit of time is so nice to just have some down time.  We will see if he actually drops the nap because he is absolutely wiped out by 6:30 at night if he doesn't have one.  And that isn't fun for anyone.

Grammie and Papa arrive today for the next few weeks.  We are really looking forward to spending time with them and for some nights out on the town.  There are so many restaurants and movies that we want to check out!!!  And really, they are here to see Cole and not us.  :)

Cole still has a very healthy appetite.

He was very busy this day.  Needed his bag and glasses to do work.

Cole will spend hours digging holes and the park.  The amazing part is that he can also sit like this for hours.  If mom or dad tried that we would need lots of Advil the next day.

Here he is with the big kid swing.  He loves to drape himself over the swing and hang there.

At the beach waiting for Heather.  Just chillin.

There was a stone pig near the restaurant we ate at with Heather.  Cole loved it!  Dad and Cole stayed there to play while Heather and mom checked out the town.

Action shot of Cole doing his little dance.  He kind of jumps from leg to leg.  It is cute.  He was dressed up for the "Dad's and Donuts" event at school.

He likes to ham it up for the camera now.  Mainly saying "Cheese" with a goofy look on his face or putting his hands around his face like this mimicking the camera.

Our handsome young man.

Cole's Latest Trick

Someone wanted to show dad how he likes to go down the slide.  He was really excited.  I was a bit surprised when he started going down on his belly, head first.  Usually he is very cautious, but he was a daredevil this day.

Weekend Fun

We have had some unseasonable warm weather recently so we have been making the most of it by spending as much time as possible outside.  On Saturday morning we went to Santa Monica so Mary could get her hair cut.  One of favorite activities is to hang out on the 3rd St. Promenade.  There are a number of street musicians and a farmer's market every Saturday morning.  Cole loves to just sit and listen to the music and watch the people.  They also have these great dinosaur statues.

After our trip to Santa Monica we met up with our friends Vivek (Dr. Mo) and Christy for some time at the beach.  Cole loves to explore and after the recent storms there are huge, new areas of tide pools.  We were able to catch the sunset at the beach as well.
